Hart Lake Reservoir is located in Lake
County, Southeast Oregon. Hart Lake and the Warner
Valley Lakes house crappie, catfish, and trout. Average
Size: Crappie up to 14 inches. Other fish fall within
the average size for their species. Techniques: Mostly
from the bank using jigs or bait, usually worms
There are no developed campground areas here and not
much shade; make sure to take plenty of water and sun
block. Bathroom facilities have recently been added at
the Warner Wetlands Day Use area. Boating or bank
fishing in the shallow wetlands is permitted. Some of
this area is a designated wetlands preservation area
(Warner Wetlands) so you may want to take along that
camera for some good shots of our feathered friends.
Hart Mountain Wildlife Adventure
Explore one of Oregon's most amazing wildlife
sanctuaries, Hart Mountain Antelope Wildlife Refuge in
southeastern Oregon. This unique fault block country is
rich in geology, wildlife, and open vistas. Observe
pronghorn, bighorn sheep, and sage grouse, and meet with
wildlife biologists to decipher the mystery of their
disappearance from many landscapes. Warner Lakes Basin
in the valley just below will provide wonderful
waterfowl viewing. Northern Paiute campsites and rock
art can be found in the surrounding lake basins. The
famous Hart Mountain Hot Springs will be a welcome
retreat after a day of hiking. Participants provide
their own sleeping bags and tents. Group size is limited
to 10.
